Developing A Parent Church "Culture"
At NCS, we do many things at New Church University to assist our Judicatory and Denominational Partners. We provide training to Denominational Supervisors, NewStart, ReStart, ReFocusing and Parent Church leaders. But our purpose in everything we do is singular! We are intent on capturing "the heart" of every attendee at New Church University, as well as in every NCS Seminar we hold. Our objective is to lead every person into a commitment to healthy church multiplication. We aim to change the culture of the judicatories and denominations we partner with, so that parenting healthy new churches is not the exception, but the norm.
Larry McKain, Executive Director
New Church Specialties
Below is a sample of feedback from New Church University. It lets us know that with some pastors and lay leaders, we are achieving our singular objective of fanning into flame a commitment to parenting churches.
Even having planted a church and having gone through the "process" that NCS has set up in planting a new church, I found N.C.U. tremendously helpful. It has not only opened my eyes to new things that would be helpful in the kingdom work, but it has inspired me to work in a movement that will produce "much fruit." Thank you for your insights, wisdom, experiences, but most of all, for your heart and passion of reaching lost people to Christ. I am going back with renewed vision and focus and am committed to multiply new churches so that many others would come to know Him! Thank you NCS!
Kip Hasselbring, NewStart Planter
Michigan District
I came to NCU with an interest in coaching and discovered so much more. I leave NCU with a greater passion to be part of the movement of church planting through mothering a NewStart and helping on my district, as well as coaching.
Doug Litsey, NewStart Coach
Indianapolis District
Attending NCU helped me not only plan the ReFocusing of my church, but also to think outside of the box and agree with God’s plans for planting another church in Bureau County.
Laura Root, ReFocusing Pastor
NW Illinois District
I came here to refocus my church. I am leaving with a commitment to multiply churches.
Roger Davis, ReFocusing Pastor
NW Illinois District
I have enjoyed and benefited greatly from this conference. My level of enthusiasm is naturally high. These four days have raised it to an even higher level. New Testament Christianity is something I have and do long for. NCS has brought some of these Biblical concepts before people in a unique way. Planting churches!—What an awesome thing. Someday before I go "home" I hope I will be involved in some way in planting a church.
Anna Conner, Lay Leader
Illinois District
I attended as a District Advisory Board Member who did not know much about the process or movement. I was touched in my spirit by the reproducing church mentality. It is what our local churches and district needs. The words of the scripture reinforced the movement in my heart. The notebook with outlines and helps will make it possible to help in communicating this to my church and my district.
Joyce Dement, Advisory Board Member
Joplin District
I came as a layperson to see how we could help our pastor ReFocus our church. I found out that our pastor had been ReFocusing our church for seven years already. But now we were able to catch the vision as a team. I did not want to see us as planters to a mother or a daughter church, yet now I am convinced that God will show us how to start a second service with the direction to use it as a daughter church to someday be sent out to multiply.
Dwight Lamm, Lay Minister - Kalispell, MT
Rocky Mountain District
I came to the conference as the district treasurer to see what ReStart and ReFocusing would cost the district. I am coming away as a laymen from the "strongest" church on our district with a burden to ReFocus and become a parent church, which may mean being willing to "go" and leave my home church that I have been in since I was 7 days old. I want to be willing to do what God wants of me as a layman.
Sheila Pollard, District Leader
Joplin District
I hope for future growth of the church in our community and building new churches in surrounding areas. The ReFocusing process that is laid out will serve us well, and allow us to grow our own church. In turn we will plant other churches in our area.
Robert Driver, Lay Leader - Gillette, WY
Rocky Mountain District
NCU inspired me to commit to church multiplication and ReFocusing process.
Garrett Lee, Lay Leader
NW Indiana District
I needed a strategic plan for growth and NCS has provided that plan. God has a plan for every church to grow and multiply. We need to find and to follow God’s plan.
Doc Burrows, ReFocusing Pastor
North Central Ohio District
I feel called to develop a network of churches in the North Communities of the Indianapolis area. My fire is rekindled to multiply His Kingdom!
David Hayes, NewStart Planter
NW Indiana District
NCU has helped me to gain competence to complete a ReFocusing plan. The Lord laid a burden on my heart to multiply or support a NewStart. My own church was born from this 80 years ago.
Bill Dawson, ReFocusing Pastor
East Tennessee District
