Estate Planning
The Importance of a Will
At NCS, we believe it is the responsibility of every Christian to be generous with and further the work of God's Kingdom through the careful planning of your estate. Every Christian should establish a will or a trust to insure that the upon their death, their wishes will be carried out. We believe and teach that every Christian should tithe within their estate. This is a vital part of the biblical practice of Christian stewardship. When Christians follow this practice, the impact on God's Church both in the United States and throughout the world is enormous.
Christian Network Foundation
New Church Specialties is in partnership with the Christian Network Foundation, (www.cnfoundation.org) an established, full-service Foundation with now over $50 million under management. NCS has the capability of receiving contributions in the form of cash, stock, bonds, land, buildings or virtually anything of value in all 50 states. Through our partnership, our staff has the capability of helping you with a wide variety of estate planning options. If you desire more information about forming a will, establishing a trust or any one of the 4 specialized ways to give listed below, please contact the NCS Main Office at (816) 746-6468 or the Christian Network Foundation Office at (913) 397-7992.
Charitable Gift Annuities
We can assist individuals who wish to contribute to NCS through a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA). A CGA is a life income gift where an individual transfers assets now, they receive a charitable deduction for a portion of the transfer and they (or a beneficiary) receive a fixed income for the rest of their lives or for a predetermined period of time. The substantial benefits of a CGA include:
- Charitable deduction for a portion of the gift in the year made
- A portion of the payments received may be exempt from certain income taxes
- A CGA can reduce capital gains tax when you use long-term appreciated securities to make your gift
Endowments
We can assist individuals who wish to contribute to NCS by establishing an endowment. With an endowment, your gift will produce income for ministry…forever! Endowments may be established with either present gifts or through planned or deferred giving. This is many times done through a will or a trust. The funds are deposited with the Christian Network Foundation and each year, a portion of the earnings, as determined by you, are distributed to NCS.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
We can assist individuals who wish to contribute to NCS by establishing a Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT). A CRT is an irrevocable trust that actually provides for and maintains two sets of beneficiaries. The first set are the income beneficiaries (commonly an individual and if married, a spouse). Income beneficiaries receive an income for their lifetime from the trust. The second beneficiary is NCS. A Charitable Reminder Trust is considered “outside of your estate” by the IRS. In the past decade, this kind of trust has been steadily gaining in popularity. The substantial benefits of using this trust include:
- Reduced income and estate taxes
- Avoidance of capital gains taxes
- Immediate charitable income tax deduction
- Increased lifetime income
- Financial security for self or loved ones
- Capitalizing on the appreciation in value of property
- Accelerating the work of the Kingdom through investment in the ministry of NCS
Charitable Lead Trusts
We can assist individuals who wish to contribute to NCS by establishing a Charitable Lead Trust (CLT). A CLT offers current income tax deductions and a reduction of capital gains taxes. With a CLT, NCS is the income beneficiary, receiving a steady stream of income during your lifetime. At your death, the named beneficiaries then receive the CLT’s assets. A Charitable Lead Trust may be a particularly attractive estate planning vehicle for a wealthy individual who wishes to transfer substantial assets to his or her descendants at a significantly reduced gift or estate tax cost, while at the same time assisting the ministry of NCS "to start and strengthen churches worldwide."
