Making Christ-Like Disciples:
Before Jesus went back to heaven, He gave a charge to His followers, "Go and make disciples." This is the focus of the Organic Church Network. Our mission is the mission of Jesus, "to make Christ-like disciples in the nations." To do this effectively, we believe our mission will be helped if we make "church" less complicated and easier to participate in. Our aim is to lower the bar of how church is done and raise the bar on being a disciple-maker.
Nurturing Our Core Values:
The core values of the OCN movement include a focus on Christian, Holiness and Missional. We aim to live like Christ, we seek to love God with all our heart and others as ourselves and we commit to act on the mission of Christ in our world. We will not be passive attenders in the Nazarene Organic Church Network! We commit to be active participants in our organic church and our global community.
Relational Rather Than Institutional:
Through our exposure and learning among other organic churches and movements in the United States and Canada, we have come to believe that effective Organic Churches will require a foundation that is based primarily on relationships rather than institutional structures. Because of this recognition, all association with The Organic Church Network is voluntary. The commitment we ask from Organic Churches within the Nazarene Network is one of "heart" covenant. We will encourage every Organic Church to nurture a heart relationship with the leadership within the district where they are located. We also acknowledge there are times when the "heart relationship" of a particular Organic Church will be stronger with the Nazarene Organic Church Network than with a particular district. The NOCN will seek to nurture strong relationships with every district leader in the U.S. and Canada and encourage them to build strong, heart relationships with all the Nazarene Organic Churches that emerge.
Commitment to a Global Community:
Because the vision of Jesus to His Church was "go and make disciples of all nations," (Matthew 28:19), every Organic Church is called by our Lord to this same vision of a global community. We covenant as Organic Churches in the United States who have been blessed materially, that we will regularly share with our brothers and sisters throughout the world. Because we do not operate with full-time paid clergy or church buildings, this releases more monies to be able to fuel the mission of Jesus in helping those in need around us, caring for the poor and helping plant new churches both here in the U.S. and around the world.
