Parent Church Models:
At NCS, we believe deeply it takes all kinds of churches and parenting models! It takes all kinds of churches to parent all kinds of churches, using all kinds of models to reach all kinds of people. The focus of NCS is to provide our partner judicatories and denominations with quality coaching and consultation in their development of parent churches who help plant healthy new churches.
Parenting is an umbrella term for the local church taking the lead in the planting of growing, healthy, reproducing churches and thus making a kingdom contribution to a healthy church multiplication movement. Under the Parenting umbrella are a variety of models. It is not so much "how" you parent, it is "that" you parent. Here are twelve models we have identified thus far at NCS. We believe that even more Spirit-led models of healthy church multiplication are yet to emerge!
- Adoption:
- Where a local church embraces a group of people who approach the church or denomination for help.
- Surprise Pregnancy:
- An opportunity to plant becomes available and the local church leadership embraces the challenge. This could be a staff member senses the call, or a group of people in the church feel a tug to help begin a new work.
- Daughtering:
- A local church takes primary responsibility to find a planter, fund the plant and focus the ministry as an extension of their influence through out their region.
- Partner:
- Where two local churches join together to spearhead the planting of a new reproducing church.
- Cluster:
- Where three or more churches come together to spearhead the planting of a new reproducing church.
- Satellite:
- A local church begins a gathering in another geographical location with the intent of it becoming a fully organized reproducing church.
- Multiple-Campus:
- A local church begins a gathering in different location, with on-site leaders. They have a targeted ministry. There is no intention of this ever becoming independent.
- Surrogate:
- Where a District, association and/or denominational spearheads the planting of a new reproducing church, but asks that a local church provide the "womb" for the new church to develop and grow.
- Colonization:
- Relocating a launch team from a parent church to a new community in another state, or city for the purpose of starting a new reproducing church.
- ReStart:
- A local church, in partnership with the District leadership, coming alongside an existing congregation to re-launch a church with the goal making it a reproducing church.
- "Other" Language:
- Beginning a church targeting another language group
- New Paradigm:
- This is the one God is germinating in the heart of a church leader, that has not yet been created…but it will.
