Organic Church
September 09 Update
The Harvest is in the field not in the barn.

“It’s a Diamond Mine”
These are the words of Organic Leader David Kincaid as he describes the unique Pocket of People he and his wife Lori are reaching in Northern California. What is a Diamond Mine, you ask? It is the city league baseball team that is coming to Christ and now several are joining together for discipleship and the forming of a church. Souls are being saved but what excites David and Lori the most is how these new folks are the ones that are spreading the good news of Christ and are becoming disciples that will be equipped to make disciples. Keep up the great kingdom work in the “diamond mine” David and Lori.
“I almost got in a bar fight at church… I sat in someone else’s stool”.
These were the words of a young College grad as he moved to another seat at the bar so that another could sit in “her spot” by her friend. Organic leader Wesley Mercer is engaging a group of young people who hang out at Starbucks and TGIFriday’s bar. It is fun to watch this formerly “unchurched” group get their Bibles out at the bar (their new church) and quickly enter into discussion and not be embarrassed. It is their Pocket of People and their lives are being transformed right in front of them. It is encouraging to hear them testify of where they were and how by the grace of God their life is not longer hopeless. Keep up the great kingdom work in the bar Wesley.
“He is more than my student at school he is in my Life transformation group at Chili’s”
Jay and one of the seniors from the high school he teaches at have intentionally started meeting at Chili’s every week were they are beginning to establish a relationship with the staff. “One of the waiters has already asked about us reading our bibles and this was a huge encouragement to this young student… We encounter believers and we won’t exclude believers but we will pray intentionally for those who don’t know Jesus.” As they have begun to pray intentionally for these folks God is leading them naturally into a Pocket of People in the high school where they both spend much time. Jay is excited about the opportunity to disciple this young man and help him from the beginning to discover what it means to be reproductive not just self focused on feeding. Jay said, “my desire is to help this become a ‘natural’ habit right from the beginning.” Disciples making disciples that can make disciples… Keep up the great kingdom work in the school Jay.
“My kindness will be their salvation.”
These were the words of God to Noel, and Mary as they prayed for the girls they would soon encounter at BT Cabaret. Some Pockets of People require signs that say – “NO MEN ALLOWED” in this church. – Heather, Noel, Mary and a team of ladies fully understands what it means when I say “the harvest is in the field not in the barn” as they enter the strip clubs of Fort Worth where they are reaching girls with the love of Christ. Noel reports, “we are in good favor with the club manager now and he has even invited us back”. It is exciting when God speaks to you in your prayer time and then confirms it in your ministry. “She kept looking at all the bracelets and then saw one that had sunflowers on it. She exclaimed, "Sunflowers, I love sunflowers!" I was so excited. I told her that when I was making the bracelets I prayed that God would show me something special that someone would like. And that He had me make the sunflower bracelet just for her. Then I told her that there were sunflowers in the dressing room and that she could take them home with her. She came around closer to me and kept saying, "You are so nice! Why are you doing this?" I said, "Well, we follow Jesus, and He loved to hang out with women like you. So we just want you to know you are special and we love you." She said, "My parents are Christians, but they don't act like this." And I told her that God loves her no matter where she is or what she is doing. And she said, "You are really nice." So, I said thank you. (One thing I want to mention is that when Mary and I were praying together right before we left, I was asking Jesus what He wanted to say to the girls. And He said that He wanted them to know He loves them no matter what. And He wanted me to know that His kindness is what leads to repentance.” The bartender asked who made the bracelets and Mary told her a church group. The bartender said, “did they know who they were making them for and Mary said, “Oh, yes.” Her eyes widened and she asked a little quieter, “Really?” When Mary shook her head in affirmation, she said rather surprised, “you guys are really nice.” She really opened up to Mary about how hard it is to be a dancer and how she really doesn’t like it.” It is a unique Pocket of People whose lives are well fertilized and need you to keep up the great kingdom work.
